There’s a gregarious energy and laid-back charm to this beautiful corner spot in one of Brisbane’s more offbeat neighbourhoods. Maybe it’s the glow of the open griglia kitchen, a warm “ciao” from the waitstaff, or a Sardinian-inspired menu that leans into unfussy deliciousness. After a mandatory aperitif – a Bitter Roma Rosso with an orange slice, say – the frittura di pesce (fried calamari and small fish with wasabi mayo) and raw prawn chickpea tart are a decadently saline and moreish double act. From there, you might land on the malloreddus al ragù, its pork-and-beef richness cradled in ribbed shells of al dente pasta; or the market fish of the day – perhaps barramundi grilled over coals and doused in tomato and seafood brodetto. A glass of wine is more of an expectation than a question: the thoughtful list weaves drops from Sardinia between regions from Tuscany to Tasmania, with BYO available at lunch and mid-week dinners.
